Assignment: ENGL 1 (Qualities of a Good Accountant)

The following are some traits, characteristic and ethics of an accountant:


  1.  Must Know the Basics – He should have through knowledge of the basics of accountancy. He should be sharp, decent, confident and well managed.
  2.  Multi-Tasking abilities: He should be able to do multiple tasks simultaneously without losing the focus.
  3. Honesty: Above all, he must be honest for his work and for his company.
  4. Knowledge Seeker: He must be a great learner and willing to grab knowledge. He must also have knowledge of the latest news in the industry.
  5. Flexible and Accommodating: Your accountant must be able to manage himself according to situations and should be ready to learn from all kinds of experiences.
  6. High Focus: An accountant must have good concentrating skills and he should stay focused on his work even after distractions.
  7. Trained and Experienced: He should be well trained and familiar with the ups and downs of the finance world.
  8. Time Management Skills: Time management is also very important in professional world. An accountant must be able to complete his task in the given time.
  9. Strong Ethics and Integrity – An accountant who lives of a life of integrity will make sure that he keeps confidential information private.
  10. Organized and Structured – An accountant should personally be a very organized person who is comfortable working within a highly structured environment.
  11. Creative and Inquisitive – An accountant should come up with new and fresh ideas for overcoming obstacles or dealing with financial difficulties. An inquisitive mind that always wants to learn more and research new methods for efficiency will keep an accountant on the top of his field.
  12. Detail Oriented – An accountant must also keep very detailed notes about his progress and meetings to keep his clients well informed.
  13.  Business-Minded – If he can couch his suggestions in terms of a business's bottom line, he will be an even greater help to his clients.
  14. Professional Skills and Expertise – accountants must be computer-literate, have an understanding of spreadsheet applications and be able to multitask.
  15. Leadership Skills – strong communication and conflict resolution skills are important to success in the field.
  16. Pay Attention to Detail – They [accountants] must be able to quickly spot errors and discrepancies, identify problems and even anticipate where trouble may potentially occur.
